Rick Allison, General Manager of Paxton Van Lines attended the American Turkish Friendship Association gala in early December. He accepted the ATFA Award on behalf of The Paxton Companies presented by Congresswoman Barbara Comstock for its corporate and community social responsibility.
The award acknowledged the humanitarian efforts to support the needed blanket drive for the Syrian refugees in Turkey. Nearly 25,000 blankets were collected (more than 18 tons), a significant increase over last years’ drive of 12 tons for a similar global relief effort. Paxton arranged the collection from participating partners in the U.S. from UPS drivers and other Paxton locations. This year we consolidated three fully-loaded trailers containing over 1500 boxes and double-stacked skids of bundled blankets. Paxton then coordinated with Maersk Container Lines for the delivery at the Port of Norfolk for final destination in Turkey. “My thanks to everyone involved in the project, most especially Rebecca Anderson who did the lion’s share of the logistical coordination on the individual pick up points for our drivers over the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend,” said Rick Allison upon receiving the award.
