2015 UCI Road World Championships

Todd Janssen and Abigail Quinn of the Paxton Companies attended a panel discussion on the 2015 Road World Championships which is an international cycling race that is to be held in Richmond, VA on September 19th to 27th. It will be covered by over 500 media outlets and broadcast live to a global audience of over 300 million people. The race will have 1,000 participants from over 70 nations as well as an expected 450,000 visitors to the greater Richmond area. Marcel Berger, the Director of Richmond 2015 Travel, who video conferenced in from Australia, spoke about how best to engage with the international visitor to our city. Richmond has recently been put on the map for tourism; Frommer’s named Richmond a ‘Top Worldwide Destination’ as well as Outside Magazine naming Richmond ‘Best River Town in America.’ This year is the first time since 1986 that the US has held this event and only the second time race history it will be stateside. Their slogan is “The World is Coming” and we look forward to greeting them with open arms in September.
